Introducing for the first time, a moonlight black tea from Darjeeling! Plucked very early in the mornings, when the moonlight is still visible, the artisans pluck the juiciest leaves and buds! This one is made from P312 and AV2 clones and is picked right at the beginning of the harvest season, on 16th of March 2023. Also from Okayti estate, situated at 6200 feet above sea level.
The dry leaf aroma is like gummy bears with a sweet floral aroma. Although the closest description would be that it smells like Darjeeling first flush, floral with a green leaf astringency at the background. When placed on the heated ware, it starts creamy, goes fruity and ends up slightly minty. Now we talk about the liquor, it is very fruity, with notes of mosambi and oranges. The floral sweetness compliments it very well, with notes of jasmine and chrysanthemum. There is an epic balance between the fruity and floral parts of the liquor, which makes the taste shine even more! You get to experience just a touch of high mountain astringency, much gentler than the 2023 Darjeeling First Flush. We are happy to finally offer two Darjeeling first flush teas this year, one from March and one from April and we feel it would give you an idea of how much of a difference this time period has on the tea. We hope you enjoy this delicious tea very soon!
