Happy to introduce a tea with a profile unlike any of our offerings, the Arunachal Orthodox Gold, a golden tippy black tea harvested at the end of Autumn 2021 season!

The dry leaf has a sweet and malty aroma with notes of jaggery. When placed on the heated teaware, the aroma reminds us of freshly baked butter cookies. The first infusion is a complex one with a well rounded sweetness. The cookie note translates fainltly into the liquor with hints of almonds and malt. There is a fruity finish resembling ripe peach and malta orange. The second infusion boasts of a lot more toasty flavors, the almond note is also akin to a roasted almond here. The maltyness subsides after the first steep and you know the floral notes are going to appear in the next steeps. The wet leaf has a nice astringent and floral charm which translates into the third steep, which has notes of roasted nuts, ripe peach and is also more milky in texture. The floral palatte resembles pink rose and just has a hint of it. The ripe peach note stands out yet again on the finish.

Unlike most of our offerings, this black tea is different because of its nutty taste profile, that is a character not many of our black teas boast of. We personally prefer the fruity and floral black teas Indian blacks are famous for but this stood out for the right balance it has. If you have tried our other Arunachal teas, you would know how much attention they give to the leaves and the processing and this is no different. We hope this new terroir gives you as much joy as it gives us!
