Introducing a first flush black tea from Sikkim after a long wait of 5 years! Our first tea was a Sikkim First Flush and we're happy to be offering another exceptional batch from the same estate, that is The Bermiok Tea Estate! This one is made from Tukdah 78 cultivar, originally made for Darjeeling but we love it so much more when grown in Sikkim!
The dry leaf smells sweet with notes of honey and has a geranium like finish. When placed on the heated ware, you get notes of rosewood, honey and rose. The liquor greets you with signature first flush briskness with notes of orange and lantanas taking centerstage. As you sip more, you can experience notes of chrysanthemum. There is a touch of saffron on the finish, complimenting the fruity and floral note with a mild spice touch, which is the reason we love this cultivar when grown in Sikkim, a signature note we must say. As you sip further, you can experience notes of cedarwood and lavender. There's a short finish of nectar like sweetness, resembling some lighter honeys we have tried from north eastern part of India. That makes you want to go for another sip and that's how the cup ends, making you feel like brewing another cup right then!
